AdAstrA Releases TRACE MODE 6.07

AdAstrA support director. TRACE MODE SCADA/HMIAdAstrA Адастра SCADAAdAstrA Support team announce a new SCADA TRACE MODE 6.07 release. TRACE MODE 6.07  features new development tools for electricity metering systems and building automation.

In recent years, TRACE MODE 6 SCADA/HMI has been increasingly adopted in energy accounting systems based on electric meters and other metering equipment from a variety of manufacturers. The standard method for data acquisition from meters was rather uncomfortable, because too many channels were required, and often users had to program even standard electricity metering functions manually.

The exciting new 6.07 release offers a new, unified way to process electricity metering data, which brings together features such as collecting data from meters made by different manufacturers, calculating standard characteristics, feeding data to upstream control rooms, visualising process, documenting process using standard forms, and submitting documents to electric companies.

Universal Electric Meter Driver

Starting with 6.07 release, SCADA TRACE MODE features an all-in-one driver that supports a variety of protocols used by different electricity meter manufacturers. The driver type can be configured in COM port settings (“Destinations”) of a node. While configuring a main system component, a developer can select the meter type from list and then view the meter specifications to choose any parameters to be controlled. 

The driver currently supports the following models of electric meters and analysers:

  • Iskra MIS (Slovenia): Iskra_MI, Iskra_MT, Iskra_MC, Iskra_WS
  • Circutor (Spain): CVM_NGR, CVM_BD, CVM_K2
  • Algodue Elettronica (Italy): UPM 303, UPM 304, UPM 305
  • Incotex: Mercury 230, Mercury 233, Mercury 203.2Т;
  • СЭТ-4ТМ2, СЭТ-4ТМ1, ПСЧ и СЭБ;
  • Energomera: CE 102, CE 201, CE 303, CE 304, CE 315, ЦЭ6850;

We will continue improving the driver by adding support of other meters, based on TRACE MODE 6 users' requests.

The driver is supported both by RTM and Micro TRACE MODE for Windows CE, making it possible to use any controller running Micro TRACE MODE in an electricity metering system. The driver can communicate with meters using RS 232/485, modem, or GSM. The different types of meters can connect to a single bus. Whenever meters have specific rules regulating how a connection is established and disconnected, the driver can automatically enforce such rules, in accordance with each meter protocol. For better performance, we recommend configuring meter in a mode that does not require switching serial interface speeds.

Connecting a meter to a TRACE MODE project node is very easy:Energy meter Mercury 230

  • Create a “Sources/Receivers” layer component in your project and configure basic connection settings within it (meter type, COM port number, device number, ID, password, etc.).
  • Next, link this component to the CALL channel of the ChGroupReq call type (“DEVICE”), which will execute all communication functions, as well as receive and archive data.
  • Finally, link this channel arguments to the functional CALL_ ChGroupReq and use the latter to configure functions to be executed and respective meter parameters. 

You can also configure similar functions with different runtime modes or change types and/or parameters of active functions in real time.

For each meter, individual logs are created automatically, containing averaged data such as power, energy statistics, and event list.

Archive volumes comply with the regulations applicable to electricity metering data archiving. Meter archive data are automatically collected from devices and saved to files. Plausible information from meter archives is fully synchronised. You can also pull archives and logs from any meter in a forced manner. All archive data can be processed using internal TRACE MODE tools to display trends or generate documents. Archive files are subject to sampling, with sampling results used for mathematical processing and further delivery to node channels, as necessary. Separate log files are used to register sessions and quality of TRACE MODE connection with meters.

If a selected meter cannot provide averaged data archives, the DEVICE can create such archives based on real time data from this meter. Whenever archive data stored in a meter are not read in a timely fashion or appear erroneous, you can add or adjust archive data manually or using a programme.

Current data collected from meters can be processed and archived to SIAD in a standard fashion. You can also average data directly in RTM archive instead of pulling averaged data archives from your device. Additionally, for all functional components of this method, internal DUMP function saves and restores data during reboots.

Imbalance Calculation Technology

Imbalance calculation is one of the most frequent challenges in electricity metering applications. TRACE MODE 6.07 features a mechanism designed to automatically calculate imbalances for each feeder as an absolute or relative value. To tackle this challenge, TRACE MODE 6.07 provides a special virtual component, SUMMATOR. While its basic configuration is similar to a DEVICE component of any meter, this component also includes a “virtuality” attribute: meters of cells related to a single feeder or meters related to different feeders within a feeding subassembly.

The SUMMATOR arguments are linked to the ChGroupReq_result channels, which are configured to execute calculation functions such as addition, absolute imbalance, or relative imbalance. When a required summary result is calculated, a Summator channel of respective group is activated to receive the requested time range. Archive sampling for meters of cells belonging to a group, and a meter of a respective feeder during the same time period is completed automatically, with processing results returned as the ChGroupReq_result channel arguments.

TRACE MODE now also includes a METER EMULATOR component designed to simulate electric meter operation, without providing a physical connection capability.

Electric Meter Licensing Policy in TRACE MODE 6.07

Any Professional line TRACE MODE development system supports an unlimited number of electric meters. Meters are polled using an all-in-one driver for electric meters (in runtime software, the number of supported meters depends on the number of available channels). You can, however, use meters for development and debugging purpose only (virtual meters). Any periodic meter polling will result in incorrect data in profiler.

The basic line development system and runtimes do not support the all-in-one driver for electric meters. You can use TRACE MODE 6 base version development system for evaluation purposes though, by using METER EMULATOR to receive data generated by TRACE MODE.

Both editions of the new release will continue to support the old mechanism of polling electric meters through channels or drivers.

The number of electric meters polled by the universal communication mechanism, with full data processing by SCADA TRACE MODE servers, depends on the number of channels licensed , as follows:

  • 15 to 127 channels – 2 electric meters;
  • 255 channels – 16 electric meters;
  • 511 channels – 22 electric meters;
  • 1,023 channels – 32 electric meters;
  • 2,047 channels – 45 electric meters;
  • 4,095 channels – 64 electric meters;
  • 8,191 channels – 90 electric meters;
  • 32,000 to 64,000 channels – unlimited number of electric meters.

Any TRACE MODE server can communicate with an unlimited number of electric meters polled by the all-in-one driver, if used exclusively for the purpose of feeding data to another TRACE MODE RTM. 
Similarly to RTM, some models of Micro TRACE MODE 6 for Windows CE can poll electric meters using two methods: a standard method based on channels or drivers and the new method introduced in 6.07 release, based on the all-in-one driver. The new method enables automatic data processing and standard power supply parameter calculation in the format widely used by power industry. The data are uploaded from meters to operator workstations based on TRACE MODE RTM.

The number of electric meters polled by the all-in-one driver depends on Micro TRACE MODE type and on the number of licensed channels. You can find this number in the price list. However, any Micro TRACE MODE 6 that supports electric meters can communicate with an unlimited number of electric meters polled by the universal communication mechanism, if used exclusively for the purpose of feeding data to TRACE MODE RTM. 

New Graphic Features in 6.07 Release

The 6.07 release includes a variety of new graphical items, including:

  • Control menu”: It provides control over control function execution. 2 arguments are used for this purpose. The first one receives a numeric command. Command execution is controlled by checking whether the other argument value matches the value configured in the settings. 
  • “Channel”: It can simultaneously display linked channel value, its ENCODING, and measurement unit. A parameter is dynamically controlled for plausibility, status, or any values outside of normal operating range, with all results displayed on the screen. By using this GI, an operator can directly acknowledge the last AR message from this channel and configure its control range limits in real time.
  • “Database”: An on-screen table is linked using a screen argument to an SQL request that implements a request of several strings. Sampling result is saved to GI memory and displayed in the table. The operator can manage the request and sample the desired string from the table interactively.
  • “Flat pump”: Colour dynamisation has been added to internal space and housing outline, and for rotor – to outline and filling.
  • “Flat valve 2”: Unlike the existing GI “Flat valve 1”, the new GI features an independent component, “Drive”, which offers dynamisation of both outline colour and filling colour. The valve drive graphic form, selectable from 10 options, matches common actuator designs.

New graphical groups, “Areas”, “Building Elements”, and “Electrical Building Elements”, have been added, significantly extending the range of available GUI tools for building automation.

New Dynamisation Features:

TRACE MODE 6.07 includes the following new features:

  • Independent visibility dynamisation for each graphical item;
  •  “Proportional switch” method available for switching to another screen;
  •  Dynamic transformation for graphical objects has been added. Transformation of any object and its graphical item can now be superposed;
  •  Control functions now allow programming “Confirmation” header and text;
  •  “Display type” property settings have been enhanced for dynamic attributes. Arg conditions in an interval and Set {Arg & Const1 = Const2} have been added;
  • A command to link the range limits in indicators has been added;
  • The “Display type” specification with “Blinking” property has been enhanced;
  • Specification has been enhanced for those 3D graphical items that allow selecting material simulation;
  • All painted graphical items with filling and other objects now have a transparency property. Several types of transparency gradients are available.

New Graphical Editor Features

HMI Editor now includes additional features, making it easier and faster to develop your graphic library:

  • Graphical objects can now be used as screen headers;
  • The graphical item properties window now has its own clipboard, making it possible to copy existing properties settings between graphical items;
  • The graphical item properties now allow to directly select the placement layer and bind “Dynamic transformation” argument using D&D method;
  • Tools for Z-positioning the screen layers have been enhanced;
  •  When a large screen is loaded in HMI Editor, an hour glass appears;
  •  A hotkey for showing/hiding a screen grid is now available (CTRL+G).

Enhanced Features of Individual Graphical Items

Some graphical items have been modified, including:

  • Node alarm report” – font selection is now possible;
  • Trend”  now includes an access code to restrict access to curve properties configuration;
  • You can now choose to move cursor “To time stamp”, whenever “Trend” is selected;
  • Configuring “Hide at start” property is now possible for each trend curve;
  • Text from file” now displays HTML code generated in the memory;
  • Digital information can now display in a binary format;
  •  “Picture-button”  now supports text overlay, with the ability to dynamise both content and colour;
  • The “Button group” now includes orientation (horizontal/vertical), linked argument value display, and watermark colour with transparency;

Improved RTM Dynamic Performance

We have added a host of features designed to dramatically reduce PC load, including:

  • Economy mode of screen loading is now available;
  • The process of exporting projects with graphical objects and loading projects into RTM has been optimised;
  • Programmable control of pop-up screen display in real time is now possible. You can dynamically limit the number of concurrently open pop-up screens, including blocking pop-ups for individual static screens;
  • Programmable re-binding of screen arguments in real time has been enhanced, making it possible to avoid loading same graphical templates in certain situations.

New Features

Serial communication redundancy is now available for communication with input/output modules.

New Protocol Support

The 6.07 release includes drivers for a number of widely-used controllers and protocols:

  • IEC 60870-5-101 telemechanics protocol;
  • IEC 60870-5-104 telemechanics protocol (master and slave)

New Software Products

The 6.07 release includes the following new software products:

  • Adaptive Micro TRACE MODE 6 OEM WinPAC-8000 for Windows CE: Designed to run logical programmes, manage and adjust processes, and display information in HMI embedded in WinPAC-8000 and ViewPAC controllers (also includes programmes for WinCON-8000). Provides adaptive PID and PDD loop self-adjustment.
  • Micro TRACE MODE 6 GSM/GPRS+ for WinPAC-8000 with open protocols (IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 60870-5-101, Modbus TCP slave) for Windows CE. Designed to collect data, run logical programmes, and display information in HMI embedded in WinPAC-8000 and ViewPAC controllers (also includes programmes for WinCON-8000). Supports I/O devices. Includes drivers for connecting electric meters, with fully automatic data processing (63 to 127 channels – one meter, over 127 channels – 2 meters). Supports an unlimited number of electric meters polled for the purpose of feeding data to RTM (functioning as a data collection and transfer device only). Polls meters and remote I/O devices via modems and GSM modems, including using IEC-60870-5-101 or IEC-60870-5-104 master. Connects to PC using RS, network, or GPRS, including using Modbus TCP, IEC-60870-5-101, or IEC-60870-5-104 slave.
  • Micro TRACE MODE 6 GSM/GPRS + for Windows CE for metering systems: Functions as a data hub and controller in electricity metering systems based on different controllers running Windows CE (x86 and ARM) – Tion, WinPAC, ViewPAC, etc. Includes integrated drivers for electric meters polled by the universal communication mechanism, with automatic processing. Supports an unlimited number of electric meters polled for the purpose of feeding data to RTM (functioning as a data collection and transfer device only).

CAUTION! Because this release includes many new graphical features, compatibility problems are possible with previous releases. Please make sure you back up any work created using previous releases, before you upgrade to the 6.07 release.

Important update for SCADA TRACE MODE, release 6.10.2

updateTRACE MODE SCADA/HMI logoNote! TRACE MODE 6.10.2 – important release update has been issued.

This update fixes the so called the 45-th day problem (problem 45, in short), which results in TRACE MODE 6 runtime shuting down after 45 days of it’s CONTINUOUS operation. This malfunction is related to incorrectly working driver of software protection dongle. The runtime module functionality is being restored after any kind of restart: just reload the runtime module’s executable, then – Open&Run TM6 project’s node.

The patch fiхes the problem 45 in all the TRACE MODE runtime modules of release 6.10.2, attended to work under Windows (e.g. RTM) or Linux (LinRTM). The patch was successfully tested during continuous and long term operation. As far as the problem 45 affects the release 6.10.1 too, so TRACE MODE 6.10.1 users should upgrade to release 6.10.2 and patch it then. The problem 45 does not affect earlier releases of 6.10, but AdAstra recommends to use the latest releases of TRACE MODE anyway.

The patch to all runtimes of the release 6.10.2 is available over User’s Personal Account. In the table of registered products a runtime module has to be selected for download (click on releases listed in the Download column), then a web-dialog Software updates appears.

The release is now available for all registered users of TRACE MODE 6 SCADA/HMI for free (it is free for download  from the  User's Personal Account).

TRACE MODE 6.10.2 – New In Release

Unauthorized Access Security Upgraded
In accordance to increased security requirements of unauthorized access and user authentification in the process control software, new means of user rights management have been introduced.

1. The constraint of the inter-node bindings number used while sending of Alarm report (AR) messages with use of the key ALANET_SEND_TONODE has been removed. If there are GEs (graphic elements) on node panels (consoles), which do display messages from the Alarm report, then the node will receive network broad-casts of messages coming from AR-server automatically. It’s assumed that a node CONSOLE has bindings for data display.
2. The specification of AR-message categories has been extended. Additional categories, which do not require acknowledgments, have been introduced. If the filter «Non-acknowledged» applied, then such messages are not displayed.
3. The cut-through message broad-casting about acknowledgements of AR-messages between nodes is introduced. The broadcastings are:

  • from server to all the nodes are of the CONSOLE type, that are receiving these messages;
  • from a CONSOLE-node to the server.

4. Programmable and interactive e-mail sending feature for any node user has been enabled.
5. GEs «Contour» and «Rectangle» are transferred to a group «Flat Figures».

Detected Bugs Fixed

1. Tools of the file-document importation, headers/footers forming, trends with legend generation, formatting the output of variables during editing and document generation are resumed.
2. Control functions in GE «Contour» are restored.
3. The bug in displaying of discrete signals on trend has been fixed.
4. The display of discrete (on/off) indicators has been stabilized.
5. On the panel, for eGE «Date and Time», which has no link to an argument, the current time-value indication on panel and its components are supported.
6. HMI editor’s stability is more up while compiling screen templates with graphic objects, which lost own linking to components of «Resources» layer (because of wrong project development practices (such as incorrect editing of screens and resource libraries, also import of screen templates).
7. Critical situation in procedure of «Re-linking of CALL channel arguments» fixed.
8. A function of the value input into a channel has been resumed. This is applicable in the profiler rmg32.exe and also in MicroRTM, in the channel tree, without expanding an attribute tree.
9. In MicroRTM a specification of «COM-port destination» has been enlarged, for interconnecting to devices by means of the channel CALL.Vector (E_Meter, Master and Mlink are added).
10. Recalculation setting "by time" of the channel process period have been re-organized.
11. A universal function of GSM-modems initialization has been resumed.
12. In the KR-500 (TCP) driver control commands specification has been extended, being adapted for setup of the free-hand number of controller.

Attention! While using release of 6.10.2, it is to take into account the following:

1. Because TRACE MODE DataCenter was not updated since 6.09.2. Use Data Center 6.09.2 if required.

a. For the EmbeddedConsole node it’s to use a folder, created and compiled in the IDE 6.10.
    The IDE 6.10 can be downloaded from the Trace Mode User Account on if required.
In the RTM starting configuration file for the node to which the EmbeddedConsole node is linked, enter a key OXP_START=ON.

2. Projects of releases 6.10 and earlier may be converted into format of 6.10.2 after sequential opening of screen templates and graphic panels, one by another, in IDE 6.10.2.
3. Output formats in Grpahic Panels (GP) are changed. In view of that, in some cases (when eGE are inherited out of old releases), changes in graphic forms executed in real-time are possible. When needed, appropriate eGE are to be open and edited. In particular, one can change display formats of text-related eGE, from Default to Auto.
4. In view of optimization applied to the visualization means of GP, dimensions of GP within one single node must be identical.

5. User component libraries (tmdevenv.tmul) of base and professional lines (IDEs) are placed in different folders. Files of component libraries (tmdevenv.tmul) (which have different formats for different IDEs) are placed if following folders:

TRACE MODE 6.09.2 New Release Available to Users

TRACE MODE SCADA/HMI release 6.09.2TRACE MODE SCADA/HMI is Windows 8 compatibleAdastra Technical support team announces a new release of an integrated and SCADA- SOFTLOGIC-system TRACE MODE 6.09.2.

The new release has successfully passed certification tests for compatibility with the Microsoft operating system Windows 8.1.

The new release 6.09.2 offers new software products and some improved features of the existing ones.

Changes in the current modules functionality

  • The Micro TRACE MODE OEM for xPAC is now available in 127 channels option.
  • Expanded support for the protocol IEC 60870-5-104 slave and Modbus TCP slave provided in the Micro TRACE MODE OEM for xPAC. Now these protocols are supported for all channel options, which reduces the cost of the TRACE MODE based remote control systems.
  • Expanded support for the protocol IEC 60870-5-104 slave and Modbus TCP slave provided in the server class products - Real time monitors. Now these open protocols are available starting from the 127 channels.
  • The Micro TRACE MODE GSM / GPRS + OEM for WinPAC-8000 modules features support for the Modbus TCP Slave protocol . Users are advised to watch a training video showing the development of a system in which TRACE MODE RTM acts as a server of the IEC 60870-5-104 (slave) protocol, and connects to another RTM (client) via the IEC 60870-5-104 driver.
  • Due to the expansion of IEC 60870-5-104 slave and Modbus TCP slave protocols support in various TRACE MODE server class products the supply of Micro TRACE MODE 6 GSM / GPRS + for WinPAC-8000 with open protocols and of Micro TRACE MODE 6 for accounting systems is stopped. Technical support for the licenses sold will be provided in the usual manner.

New Features Added

  • Strict control of releases synchronicity for Development system and runtimes added.
  • The initialization routine for GSM-modem now supports modems with restrictions on the formats of commands supported.
  • The SNMP driver provides restoration of data exchange in case of loss of communication in the presence of disconnected devices.
  • Expanded hot redundancy and fault tolerance features, namely:
    • the data synchronization period reduced to one cycle of channel database recalculation.
    • redundant nodes synchronization setup simplified.
    • all CALL channels now synchronize.
    • the redundant nodes status may be monitored and controlled via serial port (RS).
    • the redundant nodes monitoring and control features of the system variable Redundanz expanded.
    • The alarm reports can now be synchronized.
  • Data exchange over internal and external interfaces improved, in particular:
    • group exchange between nodes is modified and unified for all communication means (network, RS, modem, SMS).
    • M-Link protocol modified (with a change in the exchange format), which provided the use of this protocol in hot standby functions and for group exchange between nodes.
    • due to the lack of demand for native support of GPRS-connection and exchange with Trace Mode 5 project nodes (based on the channel CALL.MLink) this feature is canceled.
    • expanded functions of the group request via Modbus protocol using the channel CALL.ChGroupReq. When linking to the Modbus-function 1 or 2, you can organize group requests 3 or 4, respectively, with unpacking the answer according to the specified data types of the arguments.
    • more unification in the settings and control of the built in drivers of network protocols provided.
    • the global exchange interface between any pair of nodes with keys in the configuration files changed, allowing you to set the exchange interface without editing the project.
    • automatic re-initialization of data exchange via network and serial interfaces modified.
    • due to changes in manufacturer specifications for IO modules of the WinPAC-8000 CE and xPAC controllers the IO support functions is unified in the respective runtimes.
  • Expanded format specification for output messages in the Alarm report.
  • Expanded CALL.ROOT channels functions for output to the screen and to the documents using the modified functions SubNUM.
  • Increased stability and expanded the functionally of display of historical data on trends, in tables on screens and in documents. The combined data from various archives and different nodes provided.
  • Rebinding of screens arguments with access to history on the historical trends provided.
  • System diagnostics and debugging features enhanced.
  • The console "Component View" is replaced with the new console 'RTM Panel", which significantly expands the interactive monitoring and control functions in debug mode. All information and management functions are described in the appropriate section of the documentation.

TRACE MODE Real Time Monitor for Linux - LinRTM

The LinRTM 6 is an HMI software designed to run on the operator PC. The LinRTM is programmed in the standard TRACE MODE development environment release 6.09 and above for Windows, and can be run in real-time under Linux operating system.

Micro TRACE MODE 6 For xPAC-8000

Micro TRACE MODE 6 for xPAC-8000 - a new high-performance TRACE MODE OEM runtime module for xPAC-8000 industrial controllers (ICP DAS, Taiwan) running under OS Windows XP Embedded. The program features an enhensed productivity and more IO Micro TRACE MODE for xPAC 8000channels supported, expanded set of ready-made drivers, which includes xPAC-8000 IO and many drivers for other external controllers, remote input-output, energy meters and resources. Also, Micro TRACE MODE 6 for xPAC-8000 supports the OPC-interface (client).

The Micro TRACE MODE can be programmed visually in a handy TRACE MODE 6 development environment (IDE) for Windows (purchased separately) on any of 5 IEC 61131/3 languages. In most cases no programming is required to configure the controller. The main technological and computational algorithms are contained in the program as ready-to-use blocks.

New Features of The Built-In Drivers

  • A new version of the driver for OMRON PLC communication over UDP is released. A new mechanism of the traffic threading is implemented, having automatic shut-off and flow restoration feature in case of communication error / reconnecting.
  • New features added to the "universal exchange mechanism with electric meters." Now, it has become possible to connect power meters that do not have built-in clock.
  • In the 6.09 release the extended specification for connecting the T13- type driver is implemented, namely:
                        • a group request added;
                        • the software and/or used defined monitoring forwarding to different devices in real time feature is added.
                        • an additional parameter interface added allowing to format data processing.

New Features of The Development System And RTM

  • Redirecting history archive to an external SQL database. The deta flow to the SIAD archives (as set during configuration) can be now redirected to an external SQL database using the ODBC interface.
  • A new CALL.ROOT channel added enabling sampling from various archives, flexible data aggregation and generation of documents and files.
  • The Internet Explorer browser can be used for viewing HTML files from RTM.


  • Hot stand by mode synchronization system modified, in particular:
    • Improved redundancy control system.
    • Improved performance synchronization routines.
    • Reduced network load caused by synchronization.
    • Enhanced monitoring and control functions for COM-ports in redundant nodes and COM-ports modes. The "Assigning COM-port." specification expanded respectively
  • The alarm report queries engine by client consoles modified. The settings for servers and consoles data exchange are now set with special keys in the configuration files. The targeted mailings and targeted message requests feature added.
  • Modified function of Modbus group recording. The automatic transmission of channel changing arguments to the group record ChGroupReq type INPUT channel enabled.
  • The CALL.RT_Statistics channel modified. The specification for the statistical data processing is expanded.
  • Extended function of the channel DifSnap regarding processing of integer parameters.
  • A System variable @ Exit added. Now a RTM can be stopped by command.
  • A System variable @ Key_Code added. This new feature allows the software to process the signals from a 10-key keyboard and to create a string input.
  • Significantly accelerated the OPC server tag sampling in the IDE browser.
  • Enhanced debugging capabilities using keys errlock = errlockon = -> through the window components and ERROR_SHOWON - in the file *. Cnf.
  • Expanded and unified message about the state of the current node in the "Component View".
  • Standardized diagnostic engine of executive function channels CALL: error messages are passed to the attribute 240.
  • Custom component library tmdevenv.tmul basic and professional versions are located in different folders. Center files tmdevenv.tmul (with different formats for different IDE) are placed in the folder c: \ ProgramData \ AdAstra \ Trace Mode IDE 6 \ and c: \ ProgramData \ AdAstra \ Trace Mode IDE 6 Base \ (in Windows 7) or in c \: Documents and Settings \ All Users \ Application Data \ AdAstra \ Trace Mode IDE 6 \ and c \: Documents and Settings \ All Users \ Application Data \ AdAstra \ Trace Mode IDE 6 Base \ (in the operating system Windows XP).     Expanded and standardized the data exchange control and diagnostics with controllers using network protocols. Dynamic automatic redundancy for controllers provided with diagnostics and IP-addresses switching.

Note! Some Old Features No More Supported

  • On-screen display of the channels 102 and 103 of the "Universal-sharing mechanism with electric meters"
  • Automatic data processing before document generation.
  • Direct export to files of sampling results of archived data by assigning the initiating channel sample values 0xfff1, 0xfff2 and 0xfff3.

Real-time monitor

  • Replacement of a remote video from the library with a new imported corrected.
  • Right display of a transparent background in animation restored.
  • Some enhancements in the user library are done.

TRACE MODE 6.07.7 SCADA/HMI Now Released

SCADA HMI TRACE MODE 6AdAstrA's Technical Support team announces a new SCADA TRACE MODE 6.07.7 release. The 6.07.7 release makes TRACE MODE 6 fully compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7, while also introducing exciting new features for designing distributed control systems and energy or resources metering.

New System Requirements for TRACE MODE 6

As of 6.07.7 release, Windows 7 is now the recommended operating system for TRACE MODE 6. Consequently, the hardware requirements have changed.

The new minimum system requirements for SCADA TRACE MODE 6 are as follows:

  • Operating system – Windows XP SP3 or Windows 7 Professional;
  • CPU – Intel Core Duo 2 GHz or equivalent;
  • RAM – 1 GB;
  • Disk space – 2 GB;
  • Display resolution – 1280x1024;
  • Color depth – True Color;
  • OpenGL v.1.1 graphics card with at least 64 MB of onboard memory. We do not recommend using built-in graphic card;
  • CD-ROM, mouse, USB port.

CAUTION: As of 6.07.7 release, the protection dongles for the LPT port will no longer be available!

The recommended system requirements for SCADA TRACE MODE 6 include:

  • Windows 7 Professional 32 bit or 64 bit;
  • CPU – Intel Core Duo 2.4 to 3.2 GHz or equivalent;
  • RAM – 2 to 4 GB;
  • Disk space – 4 GB ;
  • Display resolution – 1920x1200;
  • Color depth – True Color, 32 bit;
  • OpenGL v.1.1 graphics card with at least 128 MB of onboard memory. We do not recommend using built-in graphic card;
  • CD-ROM, mouse, USB port.

Please note that the software and hardware requirements may vary depending on how much information TRACE MODE software products will handle, how many functions it will have, and what kind of projects you plan to develop. For projects involving 1000-2000 or more channels, we therefore recommend using the most powerful PCs available on the market.

Changes to System Installation Procedure

The 6.07.7 release introduces a few changes to the system installation procedure. The installer now detects the operating system automatically. If Windows XP is detected, the legacy procedure follows, including installation of the HASP key driver supplied with the system. If Windows 7 is detected, installation of the HASP driver is skipped. You can install the HASP driver either via Internet or manually (by running haspdinst.exe in the \ForSetup\ folder of your development system). 

TRACE MODE under Windows 7

No specific changes to user experience with TRACE MODE under Windows 7 compared to Windows XP were reported. These findings are based on AdAstrA's internal testing and further testing across our user base in Russia and abroad.

New Features in TRACE MODE 6.07.7 Release

TRACE MODE 6.07.7 includes some exciting new features:

  • The system now delivers the ability to record user actions into designated text files, in accordance with the U.S. standard 21 CFR 11. You can view the files in any text viewer or display them as tables together with the records validation results.
  • Another enhancement is a streamlined procedure for detecting the user rights when automatically starting any project nodes controlled by the runtime modules, including Micro TRACE MODE for Windows CE. The system loads the USER, for which the "Execute" option was checked, without authenticating such user.
  • TRACE MODE 6 now provides an improved OPC server, enabling convenient access to a channel tree and attributes through a user-friendly interface, while also making it easy to change any channel attribute in real time. Any connected OPC client will see the same channel tree with an attribute drop-down list. The OPC client can access any channel attributes.
  • This release also introduces a new feature – "Store and forward data to logger" – designed to monitor the connection between RTM+ or archive servers and automatically restore any data lost when connection fails, by storing the data blocks during downtime and forwarding them later. Both nodes monitor the connection and use SMS to communicate whenever the connection fails and must be reestablished. With the addition of this new feature, it is now also possible to enable reliable communication between the nodes of a distributed control system. The new feature can be particularly useful in projects involving wireless connections prone to temporary connection failure.   • The new Geometry section in the graphical item properties window enables you to edit its geometry details (coordinates, size, or rotation angle).

Improvements to CALL Channel Functions

  • The CALL.EMAIL channel now allows to fully identify a sender and provides enhanced diagnostic tools to troubleshoot the email delivery process. When sending an email, you can configure an outgoing email server name, account name and password, or recipient's address. Any detected errors are logged in the profiler log and display in the channel attributes.
  • You can now use the CALL.TVC channels to create daily and weekly schedules, which can have custom duration and allow to highlight specific days. You can display the schedules both as trends or tables.
  • The CALL.LongFromBits channels enable cascaded group control of devices such as valve- and/or motor-based dispensers. The system automatically controls the dispensing process, monitors each operating device status, and handles emergencies. The next process phase begins only if the previous phase finishes properly. You can display or modify any control or diagnostics settings for the dispensing process in real time.
  • The CALL.RT_Statistics channel now offers enhanced interval statistics for a large number of intervals. You can configure a channel list and select intervals in real time to generate various statistical data (total, remainder, average, start and end values). The results produced by statistical processing are recorded into the CALL.ChGroupReq or CALL.TVC channel arguments in a stack mode and are available for further processing, archiving, and/or documenting.

New Debugging and Diagnostic Tools

  • The TRACE MODE runtime modules now provide diagnostic tools of the development system profiler to assist you with debugging your control system project during the setup phase. With the new release, any runtime module (including Micro TRACE MODE for Windows CE) can now maintain a log similar to that of the development system profiler. To take advantage of this feature, you simply need to add the DEBUG key to the configuration file used to run a node. You can also flexibly configure the scope of diagnostics.
  • The OPC client in TRACE MODE now offers improved diagnostics and initialisation functions for the connected OPC servers. Connection status monitoring, communication error control, and reinitialisation can be performed individually for each OPC server. Whenever the system detects any connection problems or increased level of errors associated with a certain OPC server, it can reinitialise the connection with this specific OPC server.
  • The DEBUG system variable has been significantly revamped. Instead of 16 diagnostics types, this feature now logs the results of 32 different procedures. It can maintain separate error logs for Alarm Report, system state file, supported protocols in the SLAVE mode, SQL queries, OPC interface, IP traffic, TCP communication, requests of historical trends, calls of templates, extensive information for built-in protocols (Modbus, DCS, etc.), and other errors. Because this variable enables you to enter its value online in real time, you can quickly adjust the actual scope of additional diagnostic information without restarting your node.
  • You can now generate HTML files with diagnostic information in your node folder in real time. To do so, you can add predefined strings to the custom channel attribute. The information in the tables is generated based on whatever you call:
    • electric meters;
    • drivers called by the VECTOR channels;
    • network or RS communication;
    • The "debug545" string outputs a table with the OPC server information: number, name, status, last connection time, last communication time, and total error count;
    • The "debug547" string outputs the project nodes discovered on the network.

New Drivers

  • With the introduction of a new channel, CALL.Vector, you can now develop input/output drivers for custom serial interface protocols without programming and also archive data in separate archives. This feature is designed to acquire data blocks from the devices as slices with the same time stamp. The archive data can display as trends or documents. For this reason, a channel has a special licensing policy based on the arguments assigned to this channel.  Please see a training video on how to use the CALL.Vector channel to develop input/output drivers for custom serial interface protocols without programming.
  • The NMEA 0183 enabled devices are now fully supported. Previously, the system supported only the GPS functions of the protocol. You can now seamlessly integrate a wide range of navigation devices based on this protocol in your automated control systems.
  • A driver for Kestrel 4000 weather station is now available. The driver has been successfully tested in a real-life project environment.
    The system now also includes a driver for Beckhoff controllers (via TwinCAT), which delivered exceptional performance during testing in real-life projects.

Modified Drivers

  • DELTA DVP Controller Driver.
  • The Universal Meter Communication Mechanism now provides enhanced functions for reading the power and synchronization profiles from the SET-4TM meters.
  • The PSC-3APT meter driver has been adapted to comply with the actual implementation of the protocol. Included in the Universal Meter Communication Mechanism, this meter is now also supported by Micro TRACE MODE for WinPAC controllers.
  • The Modbus TCP protocol driver now makes it possible to scale a frame up to the Modbus RTU format. This feature will be of particular interest in projects involving applicable converters such as those based on the GPRS modems.
  • The group recording functions (16) of the Modbus protocol have been extended to include a broadcast feature.
  • The system now offers enhanced formats of reading integers through the Modbus protocols, allowing to read, display, or process a 4-byte signed integer.

AdAstrA Research Group (Moscow, Russia) has launched a new SCADA/HMI class software product - TRACE MODE GSM RTM+ for GSM/GPRS-based remote control and alarming.

Utility, transportation, hi-tech house, water, gaz, fire-safety and agriculture remote control – the all-new SCADA/HMI software is designed for a range of applications that seek to receive real-time process data and communicate them to the mobile teams in a fast and reliable way. 

TRACE MODE GSM RTM+ is easily programmed on IEC 6-1131/3 visual languages in SCADA/HMI TRACE MODE 6 integrated development environment. The software provides data acquisition from remote I/O or RTU via built-in free drivers, DDE and OPC interface, data processing, automatic control, data logging, alarming and process visualization on animated screens and trends etc.

The all-new system enables the following operation modes: 

  • Automatic broadcasting of values enables communication of TRACE MODE 6 (RTM) SCADA servers and clients (NetLink Light). The information transmitted over GSM channels displays on operators' workstations using graphical view they are accustomed to.
  • Direct GPRS connectivity to RTU;
  • Server-side SMS transmission controlled by SCADA operator interactively. This function enables deploying an SMS paging system across an enterprise available for sending out orders and notifications to certain employees' or teams' cell phones.
  • Remote RTM data request via a cell phone enables receiving real-time process status, material flow or products shipped.

The exciting new 6.06 release provides a host of new features and technologies to dramatically increase SCADA TRACE MODE performance and functionality.

The new TRACE MODE 6.06 includes a real-time system that has been optimized to improve a variety of TRACE MODE runtime module dynamic parameters. This resulted in faster performance of TRACE MODE RTMs, enhanced thread management capabilities, reduced screen refresh time, and faster navigation between the screens. The SIAD/SQL TRACE MODE database now works faster and provides extended functionality for making data available to any external applications. The new release boasts of improved capabilities for modifying your control system in real time, providing more control over trend axes and curves, while providing a neat feature that allows to switch between any data sources to display them interactively. The Real-Time Monitors in TRACE MODE now include enhanced features for managing SIAD/SQL 6 archive volumes. New Features in Integrated Development Environment (Development System)

The development system now features reduced time to export (compile) a custom RTM project. To this end, the system now supports 2 CPUs on multi-CPU platforms. We have also added a neat feature that enables you to compile just a part of your project if you have made only minor modifications, which dramatically reduces waiting time for large system developers.

CAUTION! Make sure that you check and change initial settings in your development system (Export Parameters on the Save for RTM tab). Otherwise, some modifications will not export after editing.

  • To the HMI Editor the Center command is added that automatically centers any full screen size items.
  • The HMI Editor also includes a new feature that makes it possible to select how your color attributes will blink.
  • The improvements made to the Document Template Editor include: 
    • Improved table formatting;
    • New display styles for trend curves;
    • Restored capability to export integer data into an archive table;
  • Faster connection between SQL Request Wizard and MS SQL Server.
  • Modified models for the first level object, valve/shutter, and motor.

    Real-time graphical interface

    • You can now interactively save your graphical screen to a file in real time (via the 254 attribute of the channel that calls such screen), which allows you to make screenshots of screens and trends whenever you want.
    • The Trend graphical item (GI) now enables you to bind the time axis limits to INPUT type arguments, increasing your flexibility in terms of managing trend parameters by enabling you to adjust them to the changing process parameters.
    • The RTM EVENT WINDOW now allows you to view the Fault Logger.
    • The RTM menu now features the commands below:
      • Re-bind active screen arguments to various node channels, enabling dynamic and interactive capability to switch between any data sources to display them;
      • Create and manage archive copies. Interactively select archive copies (volumes) and display parameters.
      • Hide all hidden layers;
    • You can now control layer visibility, which provides context management capabilities for graphical object layer visibility;
    • The EVENTS GI now provides enhanced capabilities:
      • You can now transmit any message acknowledgement event from the EVENTS table to the Alarm Report (file and GI);
      • You can now transfer events via HEX and FLOAT channels (without stacks) to the EVENTS table.
    • The system now provides enhanced features for displaying on-screen values. In addition to existing option that displays your values by intervals, you can now assign colors and status to any TRACE MODE graphical indicators, if any parameters in the masked bits associated with such indicators have the specified values.
    • The system now provides new capabilities for controlling multi-GI overlay point. You can now specify the control mode when RTM starts: all GIs or the upper GI only.

    Real-Time System

    • The RTM thread structure and channel recalculation have been modified.
    • We have added new threads and split several existing threads. RTMs now include a special thread for monitoring other threads. These new capabilities empower you to streamline RTM dynamic resource distribution and use additional tools to monitor RTM usage.
    • RTMs now includes new and improved channel recalculation period types:
      • OWN THREAD recalculation period – Enables you to run large applications in background;
      • New CALC EXE, FAST EXE, IDLE EXE recalculation periods – Reduce computational resources used to process the OUT channels that have high reactivity, but run rarely;
      • FAST recalculation period – Can be applied to any channel now;
    • The system now provides more keys for you to choose from when configuring a *.cnf file. The additions include, in particular, capabilities to control computational thread intensity, how functions associated with the Alarm Report are buffered, resources, and current diagnostics.
    • TRACE MODE now provides enhanced startup synchronization features for your client nodes in the client-server complexes. The Synchronization flag automatically synchronizes the Alarm Report buffers and EVENTS channel stacks across the NetLink Light nodes during startup.
    • RTMs can now automatically read additional arguments from the remote nodes using the RemArg and EvReg channels.
    • The User channel improvements include:
      • New “Disable viewing archive data” attribute;
      • New “Access to all GI and screens with access code 0” attribute;
      • New feature that allows you to remotely control the current user rights;
    • The Event channel improvements include:
      • New feature that allows you to save channel messages (in addition to the Event channel generated messages) into the Alarm Report bound to this channel;

    CAUTION! The re-mapping procedure has been removed from all RTMs, excluding RTM for DOS. If your RTM performed re-mapping in any node, you need to convert your SIAD using a relevant profiler procedure without graphics support.

    To check whether you need conversion:

    • Launch the node controlled by this RTM using the dllRTM32_e.dll debug library.
    • If your node protocol includes a string that contains words “Use remap”, you need to convert your archives.

    New Free Device Drivers

    The 6.06 release includes new free drivers for I/O devices (controllers, meters, gauges, etc.) and enhanced features for the embedded drivers:

    New features in Data Center

    Web HMIWe assume the set of measures to increase safety of Data Center operation in Internet:

    • Adjusted time out  for proxy server disconnection in time of no data transmission was launched;
    • Protection from unauthorized access was improved;
    • Feature of data mapping on trends was added;

    The 6.05 release delivers update of the following software:

    3. The HMI now includes Archive tables and Archive bar graph GIs.
    4. The HMI (gHMI) now includes GIs (gGIs) such as Polyline with filling, Pump, standard video set, switch group.
    5. The multi-line text for Text and Button GIs is now available.
    6. The texturing options for the 3D GIs have been enhanced.

      - The programs processing, while generating the document tables is now available. For instance, by using programs, you can process the tables, while performing archive sampling, and then send the ready mathematical processing results to the archive tables
      - You can now output messages from a local alarm report and other documents to the document to be generated
      - The print server now provides enhanced features for dynamic creation of the document file saving direction, while offering document creation process management and message category allocation functions.
    2. For node redundancy mechanism:
      - Automatic primary node selection (WORK/TRACE arbitration) upon reconnection in your redundant and triple-redundant systems
      - @Net_DDE and @Logging system variables ensure additional permanent settings synchronization across the redundant nodes.
    3. You can now define a number of the alarm report lines to be read upon start-up.
    4. A CALL.TVarray channel has been added to ensure consistent copying of the settings in the set time sequence.
    • TRACE MODE SCADA software: trend and alarmsWe have also improved a number of existing features, ensuring:
      - much faster display of your archive data in the trends by optimizing SIAD data sampling algorithm;
      - no more freezing of the Modbus TCP protocol across noisy data transfer lines;

      - improved curve display on your real-time trend for any settings that change rarely;
      - improved verification of the entered numbers upon "clicking" control using Enter and send function;
      - stack volume for EVENT channel increased to 254;
      - enhanced support of your regional data format settings for Node alarm report GI;
      - improved mechanisms of remote project loading and debugging.
    • We have re-enabled a number of features:
      - screen template transfer to a component library;
      - SMS sending by the GSM-enabled real-time monitors;
      - /hide option for hiding the RTM system panel when launched in the full-screen mode;
      - screen reloading using @Load variable.
    • We have corrected the localized errors causing:
      - IDE crash by pressing Alt when renaming the project components;
      - incorrect management priorities when sending the same parameter from several workstations in the distributed systems;
      - incorrect ST language functions of exponentiation and logarithm, if over 32 per program;
      - inaccurate floating point computing;
      - incorrect input format and display of the double precision numbers;
      - incorrect control of the layer visibility in the pop-up window;
      - incorrect I-7053 module addressing.

    AdAstra Technical Support department anounced the new driver updates. FX Communication driver is designed for Mitsubishi Electric modular controllers. This driver supports the whole range of MELSEC FX PLC using serial port via FX Computer Link protocol.

    The new driver provides SCADA TRACE MODE 6.04 communication with 32-bit integer counters, optimized communication via noisy data lines, as well as a number of changes improving driver functionality.

    By successfully testing another way of SCADA TRACE MODE 6.04 communication with MELSEC FX controllers – via FX2N-64DNET communication module – DeviceNet bus support has been introduced.

      • The AVR output feature of STAT (Statistics) functional block has been restored;
      • Message confirmations with "line FROM" and "FROM node" graphical items available on one screen are now synchronized;
      • DDE server connection is now restored automatically after restart;
      • The function of automatic NLL switching between redundant nodes has been restored.

      HART Driver for Micro TRACE MODE 6 to Connect HART Devices and WinCon 8000

      AdAstrA Research Group, Ltd made available an external driver for Micro TRACE MODE 6 industrial controller programming system. This driver is designed to connect WinCon 8000 controller to sensors and flowmeters using a popular HART protocol.

      The Kristall distillery in Moscow was one of the first factories to deploy the HART driver for WinCon 8000. Previously, Micro TRACE MODE 6 for WinCon 8000 was shipped only with the integrated drivers for Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, DCS, etc.

      New Circutor CVM Driver for SCADA HMI TRACE MODE 6
